Remembrance

2020

Archival pigment print, soil

As a queer artist, I wanted to reimagine the life and death of a transgender family member who was incorrectly referred to as her sex assigned at birth. This piece was created to redefine her funeral ceremony. It mourns her while honoring her history, gender identity, and resilience.
